NI View – Campaign to end Loneliness

As part of LucidTalk’s regular quarterly NIVIEW ‘Omnibus’ poll-surveys, LucidTalk were recently commissioned by the Campaign to end Loneliness to research a NI representative view, and collate NI opinions, regarding this important issue.

For the NI poll-project, the established Northern Ireland (NI) LucidTalk online Opinion Panel (13,289 members) was used, which is balanced by gender, age-group, area of residence, and community background, in order to be demographically representative of Northern Ireland. 1,989 full responses were collated, and after data auditing to ensure: (a) 'one person-one vote' responses, and (b) the collation of a robust, accurate, and balanced representative NI sample, - 1,970 full responses were recorded and used for analysis in terms of the final results.

This was a client commissioned poll carried out by LucidTalk Limited in accordance with the professional standards and regulations as directed and laid down by the UK and Ireland polling and market research professional organisations including the British Polling Council: See LucidTalk - Professional Credentials below. All poll questions were proposed by the ‘Campaign to endLoneliness’ - however, and as always with client commissioned projects, LucidTalk worked with the client to endeavour to agree on poll questions that were, as far as possible, neutral and balanced, within the context of the client’s project objectives. All data results belong to the ‘Campaign to end Loneliness’, and as such any inquiries regarding this poll-project, the poll-project results, press and media coverage of the poll-project, should be made directly to the ‘Campaign to endLoneliness’ – email: info@campaigntoendloneliness.org.uk.

In accordance with British Polling Council (BPC) rules and regulations we enclose here the full poll-project data-table results covering the poll result(s) that the client has already published, and have entered the public domain: Full Results Data-Tables: CLICK HERE - (will appear at bottom left in excel/csv format).

Here is a key results graphic from the project: CLICK HERE. This shows the main NI representative results from the project including three key results i.e. (a) that 70% of people in NI are worried about someone they know being lonely during the winter months because of the Covid 19 restrictions, (b) 88% of people in NI say loneliness has become a bigger problem since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, and

(c) that 72% of people in NI want the Northern Ireland Assembly to do more to tackle the issue of loneliness.
